If you’re seeking a little bit of nostalgia then look no further than Alfreton’s King Street and the 80s Video Shop.
Straight to Video – 80s Video Shop opened on Saturday (July 23) with a special guest appearance by Star Wars actor Spencer Wilding.
The new shop, which has been described as part museum and part movie gift shop by owners Chris Annable and Rob Lane, already has a fanbase, with members of the community proudly donating videos – adding to the owner’s extensive personal collection.
Straight To Video – 80s Video Shop houses a retro collection of 80s videos for viewing, and sells a selection of exclusive merchandise including T-shirts, mugs, tote bags, VHS notepads and badges.
“It didn’t matter how big or small your town or village was in the 80s and 90s… you always had a video shop which literally everyone would visit at some point” said Rob.
“It’s an experience and memory that I think was forgotten, but right now I feel it’s a great time to bring that back a little and where better than in Alfreton? Whilst at the 80s Video Shop we’re not renting the tapes, we want to bring back that sense of nostalgia for some, whilst giving a first-time experience for the younger people. It’s going to be a lot of fun to see people’s reactions!”
Located on King Street Alfreton and above Chris’ existing shop GluPro Sports, the 80s Video Shop will be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Address: 80s Video Shop, 11 King Street, Alfreton DE55 7AF
