The Spirit of Alfreton is a community news site designed to celebrate and showcase all that the local area has to offer.The website was launched by the Nieper family in April 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The aim was to create a platform where information about local services could be shared and where residents could look for support.

The Spirit of Alfreton has evolved so much since then and is now recognised as a trusted source of information, covering Alfreton town centre, South Normanton, Somercotes, Riddings, Oakerthorpe, Tibshelf, South Wingfield and more.

It's a place where local groups, schools and businesses can share their news. We want to showcase our independent businesses, share the good work of our local charities and all the other positive action taking place locally.

The website is ‘for the community, by the community’ so we encourage you to use the ‘Tell Us Your News’ button to share your news with us.

You can use this function to share whatever information you’d like to tell us about – news, details of a local event or even a personal celebration such as a special wedding anniversary or birthday.
