Students from the David Nieper Academy in Alfreton have been visiting an international business.
The young people from the academy took a trip into the city of Derby to visit Amazon’s Kegworth Fulfilment Centre.
Mrs Fawcett at the academy said: “40 Year Nine girls and Sazedah Rahman (Year 11) were recently invited to Amazon Kegworth Fulfilment Centre.
“Students took a tour across the fulfilment centre to see how they picked, packed, and shipped orders to customers.
“They also completed two practical activities with the Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) and Operations teams.”

Mrs Fawcett continued: “Students viewed presentations on roles within both teams from apprenticeship to senior roles and participated in question-and-answer sessions.
“Students were also given the opportunity to view a presentation delivered by a couple of managers within the Senior Leadership team regarding senior roles.”
Year Nine student Charity Jones said of the outing: “I really enjoyed my visit to Amazon as I found it a fun environment to be in and has inspired me to be a female leader.”
Fellow student Kia Fazakerley said: “It was interesting to learn about, I particularly enjoyed the tour and seeing the robots in action.”
Mrs Fawcett added: “This visit gave the students an inspirational behind-the-scenes tour of how the Kegworth Fulfilment Centre runs on a day-to-day basis and they learnt about the different career opportunities at Amazon.”
