Activities and clubs to keep kids busy in the Alfreton area this February half term

Half term takes place in Derbyshire next week (February 20 – 24) and fortunately, there’s lots going on in the Alfreton area to help keep the kids busy.

Here is our round-up of the various events, activities and holiday clubs that will be available next week.

Alfreton Library

Alfreton Library is free to visit and you can spend time looking at books with your little ones even if you don’t have a library card.

The library, located in Severn Square, is open between 9.30am and 5pm Monday to Thursday, 9.30am until 7pm on Fridays and between 9.30am and 4pm on Saturdays.

Alfreton Library will be hosting a Crafty Saturday session on February 25 between 10.30am and 11.15am. The session is free to attend, just drop in and make some crafts to take home.

Alfreton Leisure Centre

Alfreton Leisure Centre has a number of child-friendly events listed in its timetable for next week.

Activities planned include junior gym, family swim sessions and active play and bounce sessions for under fives. Prices and dates/times of activities vary.

The leisure centre, located on Church Street, is also running an offer for under 16s, accompanied by an adult, to play racket sports for £1.50.

Brighteyes Soft Play and Cafe

Brighteyes Soft Play, based at the Genesis Entertainment Centre in Alfreton, will be open all week between 10am and 4pm.

The soft play centre is suitable for children up to the age of 12.

Bowling at Genesis Entertainment Centre

Ten Pin Bowling is available in the evenings during half term (Monday to Friday) at Genesis Entertainment Centre in Alfreton.

It opens between 5pm and 10pm Monday to Thursday, 4pm until 10pm on Fridays, 11am until 10pm on Saturdays and 11am until 6pm on Sundays.

Blue Light Card holders can now enjoy 10 per cent off the entry cost for both bowling and Brighteyes Soft Play.

CIA Half Term Kids Camp

Central Infinity Allstars Cheerleaders will be hosting a range of activities at the Genesis Entertainment Centre in Alfreton during half term.

The holiday camp will take place on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (22-24 February) between 9am and 3pm.

Activities planned include cheerleading, gymnastics and arts and crafts.

The camp costs £20 per day or £50 for all three days.

It is suitable for children between four and 15 years old.

HavensWood Woodland Holiday Club

Learn new skills and explore HavensWood, private woodlands near Morton, at the Woodland Holiday Camp.

Activities include playing in a mud kitchen, completing a guided rope trail and much more.

The holiday camp will take place daily between 9am and 4pm.

It costs £30 per day to attend – the cost includes refreshments, ingredients and materials for each child.

Ripley and Alfreton Tennis Club

The tennis club is hosting a three-day camp on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

The camp costs £20 per day or £50 for all three days.

Somercotes Library

Somercotes Library, located at Somerlea Park Junior School, is open on Mondays between 2pm and 5pm, on Thursdays between 2pm and 7pm, on Fridays between 9.30am and 5pm and on Saturdays between 9.30am and 1pm. It closes for lunch between 1pm and 2pm.

Like all libraries in Derbyshire, you can visit and look at the books for free and without having a library card.

South Normanton Library

Located at The Hub, South Normanton Library will be open every day throughout half term apart from Wednesday and Sunday.

Its opening hours are as follows: Mondays between 9.30am and 1pm, Tuesdays between 9.30am and 6pm, Thursdays and Fridays between 9.30am and 5pm and Saturdays between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

On Fridays, the library now hosts a Story and Rhyme Time session, which is suitable for under fives. The session will take place during the school break.

Treetops Activity Centre

Treetops Activity Centre will be open throughout half term for soft play and indoor fun.

Located at the Amber Business Centre in Riddings, Treetops Activity Centre will be open 9.30am until 4.30pm all week.
