A new disability day group – Aera Support Community Group – is now offering activities and support in Alfreton.
The group, previously run Leonard Cheshire Disability Alfreton, is based at the Genesis Centre, on King Street.
The group is open Monday to Friday, between 9am and 3pm and supports those with learning disabilities, physical disability, autism and the elderly.
Activities currently on offer include bingo and quizzes, keep fit, arts and crafts, and much more.
Area Community Support Group explains: “The group has been running for many years supporting people with a range of needs, by a committed and dedicated team of experienced staff, many of whom have been supporting at the Genesis Centre for over 15 years.
“This group offers opportunity for social interaction for those that would otherwise be at risk of isolation. The activities provided enhance daily living skills and encourage person centred participation.
“All sessions are led by a passionate team that are always open to new ideas for activities and other opportunities and actively encourage input from everyone attending.”
