The celebrations will move to Alfreton Park on Sunday (July 9), where there will be a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, a performance from Sarah Bright and a dog show.

There will also be inflatables and an ice cream van, and everyone is invited to bring a picnic with them to enjoy in the park.

The huge celebration has been organised by a group of volunteers – with the support of the Mayor of Alfreton, Councillor Hannah Jowett-Frost – who were interested in bringing Party in the Park back to the town.

Alfreton Town Council said: “We want to thank those who have supported the group in organising the event and welcome any community members who may be interested in joining the group for future years.

“Let’s make Alfreton the place to be. To do that we need to work together as a connected community.”

Ian Danby, chairman of the cricket club, added: “On behalf of Alfreton Cricket Club I would like to welcome all of Alfreton and surrounding areas to this year’s Big Summer Event.

“With the weather set fair, let’s make it a really good weekend with loads of entertainment happening Friday to Sunday both on the town and in Alfreton Park.

“A very small but hard working committee have made this event possible with a view to making it bigger and better in the years to come. Please support this event and show what a great town and community we have.”
