Alfreton footwear brand Rock Fall has partnered with parcel delivery firm DPD to create a new range of sustainable safety boots for drivers and workers, with an initial purchase of 5,000 pairs.
It’s the first safety footwear provider to be verified by the Vegan Society, with two items from the range containing up to 12 recycled plastic bottles in each pair. The lining are all 100% recycled plastic, while the Bio EVA midsole is made from sugar cane oil rather than petroleum and the footbed uses recycled foam offcuts.
They are delivered in shoe boxes made from FSC recycled card that is both 100% recycled and recyclable and printed using soybean ink. Packaging is minimalised and a QR code eliminates stickers and leaflets.
DPD promises to be “the greenest delivery company on the planet”. It aims to build the largest all-electric delivery fleet in the UK and use bags, which are now made from 80% reclaimed material and are 100% recyclable.
