Staff at Alfreton Library were surprised to receive a letter from Buckingham Palace this week.
The letter was sent to the Severn Square library on behalf of Princess Alexandra, cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth ll.
It was sent to thank staff for sending a handmade bookmark as part of its Coronation celebrations earlier in the year.
Library assistant Alex Fletcher had made a display featuring handmade bookmarks of the Royal Family.
One of the bookmarks celebrated Princess Alexandra, so Alex decided to send her one.
Alex explains: “I thought that sending Princess Alexandra one of my handmade bookmarks would be a fun way of sharing Alfreton Library’s Coronation celebrations.
“Receiving a reply from Buckingham Palace was a wonderful surprise. We were all delighted to read it.”
