Members of Alfreton Male Voice Choir are putting both their linguistic and singing skills to the test as they practice a new song.
The choir has been practicing a new piece – Panis Angelicus – which means ‘Bread of Angels’.
Alfreton Male Voice Choir said: “The piece, sung in four parts, is totally in Latin and the guys have been issued with pronunciation guidance sheets to reduce the effect of the Derbyshire dialect on the beautifully flowing Latin language.
“The choir follow in the footsteps of Charlotte Church, Aled Jones and Lucianno Pavarotti who have also recorded Panis Angelicus and we certainly aspire to their standard of performance.
“Watch this space for our first public performance of Panis Angelicus which would sound beautiful in a local church.”
