The National League North season starts again on Saturday and that means our weekly newsletter returns.

It’s been a busy off-season for Alfreton Town with plenty going on off and on the pitch.

New signings

At the time of writing, we’ve signed new players with a few more to be added to the ranks ahead of this weekend’s tie with South Shields.

Squad news

Having missed most of pre-season, we don’t expect Adam Lund, Danny Preston or Matt Rhead to feature on Saturday. Rhead will be out for a large chunk of the season with a return date not expected.

Alongside these three injuries, Ryan Taylor and Kenny Diggie are both doubts heading to South Shields on Saturday after picking up knocks in training and against Mickleover Sports.

South Shields away

We start our 23/24 National League North campaign with a visit to newly promoted South Shields on Saturday afternoon.
