International Reds

During the international break our very own Ben Starkie was away with Tanzania. Following a 0-0 draw with Algeria, Tanzania qualified for their 3rd ever Africa Cup of Nations and will be heading out to the Ivory Coast in January.

Starkie becomes the first ever Alfreton Town player to qualify for a major international tournament whilst playing for the club.

We’d like to congratulate Ben and the people of Tanzania for this incredible achievement.

Emirates FA Cup

Over the weekend the Reds entered the 23/24 FA Cup. A 4-2 victory over Cleethorpes Town means the Reds have moved on to the 3rd qualifying round of the competition.

The draw was released earlier today (Monday, September 18) and we have been drawn at home to Mossley AFC or Emley AFC. The tie is due to be played on Saturday, September 30 at the Impact Arena.

Injury News

A number of injuries have plagued the Alfreton Town squad recently. Jordan Thewlis is most likely of the lot to return this weekend with our trip to Blyth Spartans.

Ryan Taylor is still out but is slowly making progress as is Harry Perritt. Danny Preston is waiting on an operation on his ankle before he can return, most likely in the new year.

Alfreton are also without Shaun Brisley this weekend as he serves the second of his three match suspension following his red card at Banbury United.
