It’s been another busy week for Alfreton Town FC as the 23/24 National League North season kicked off.

Opening day

Alfreton suffered opening day defeat to South Shields. Falling to a 3-1 defeat on Tyneside.

Often boss Billy Heath will have been boosted by the returning Ryan Taylor playing a full 90 minutes, however [suffered] the loss of captain Dwayne Wiley to a straight red card in the dying embers of the game.

Alfreton could potentially have Kenny Digie back this weekend after a slight groin injury. Adam Lund could also return this weekend after missing all of pre-season due to surgery.

Finally, Danny Preston is looking at a return to action in September.

At the end of last week, Alfreton Town announced the signings of Anthony Dwyer, Kelan Swales, Will Pollard, Jaz Goundry and Billy Fewster.

Billy featured in our opening day defeat to South Shields, setting up Shaun Brisley for our only goal of the game.
