A new report from Ofsted offers high praise for “attentive” staff at South Normanton Cherubs.

The report, published on Wednesday (August 30), notes that every child at the Hilcote Street nursery receives “exceptional” support.

It also highlights “inspirational leadership and management” and notes that the staff are “positive role models” to the children in their care.

The report is based on an inspection of the nursery on July 25, and rates it as ‘good’ overall – the same grading offered on the setting’s previous inspection in May 2017.

The new report states: “Staff warmly welcome children and families into the nursery, spending time to help children settle quickly and begin their day full of laughter and smiles.

“The individual attention and support that every child receives is exceptional and helps all children including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, to thrive and succeed in their learning and development.”

Lucy Tutin, head of Early Years Practice and Provision at Cherubs Nurseries, has welcomed the report.

She said: “The Excellence Team and I were extremely happy for the Cherubs South Normanton team who received a ‘good’ Ofsted grading.

“All their hard work, knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm shone through on the day of the inspection.

“The inspector commented that the staff warmly welcome children and families into the nursery, spending time to help children settle quickly and begin their day full of laughter and smiles.

“Staff are very attentive to children’s individual needs, such as their feeding and sleep routines. By providing a well-balanced and thoughtful curriculum, this supports all children to build on their skills and make progress.

“They give particularly high attention to developing children’s language and communication skills. Well done!”
