Residents across Amber Valley are being urged to be vigilant regarding a garden waste service fraudster reportedly operating in the area.
Amber Valley Borough Council (AVBC) has issued the warning following reports of someone falsely claiming to represent the council who is collecting money for the council’s garden waste service in the area.
A spokesman for the council said: “It has come to our attention that there is an individual falsely claiming to represent the council who is collecting money for our garden waste service in the area.
“We want to assure you that this person is not affiliated with Amber Valley Borough Council.”
They continued: “Please be aware that we never collect payments at your doorstep.
“The only authorised methods for paying for our garden waste service are through our official website at https://www.ambervalley.gov.uk/gardenwaste or by calling us directly at 01773 841326.
“If you encounter such a visit, we urge you to contact Derbyshire Constabulary on 101 immediately to report the incident.
“Your safety and security are our top priorities, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us address this matter promptly.”
