A leisure centre user in Alfreton is putting her best feet forward for charity this weekend.
Harani Vimal, who attends Alfreton Leisure Centre regularly, is taking part in the Sheffield 3k 2024 Race For Life in aid of Cancer Research UK on Sunday (June 9).
Harani said: “I have been part of the Places Family since I was 16 years old. I started attending PT’s and in the last few years I became a member at Alfreton Leisure Centre using the gym on a regular basis and my fitness and confidence has grown tremendously.
“This year I have chosen to take part in the 3k Race For Life run to raise money for Cancer Research. The run is taking place on June 9 at Sheffield.
“I have set a target of £500 to raise before the run.
“Places has really supported my fitness journey these past couple of years and I would really appreciate if we can work together on raising money for this run I have booked in to do.”
A spokesman for Alfreton Leisure Centre said: “We are proud to be supporting Harini with her fitness, both in general and in preparation for her run.”
Harani has set up a fundraising page on which she states: “Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m taking part in a Race for Life 3k to raise money and save lives.
“One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
“Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.”
