The uncle of a young man who sadly took his own life is to run a half marathon in memory of his nephew.
Callum’s Voice, which is situated within Alfreton House, hosts regular crafts sessions for young people to enjoy.
The charity was founded in memory of Callum who was tragically lost to suicide at just at 18 in April 2019.
Callum’s uncle Richard is set to take on The Robin Hood 1/2 Marathon on September 29 this year to raise money for Callum’s Voice.
Richard has set up a Go Fund Me fundraising page. On it he states: “I am running the Robin Hood Half Marathon to raise money for Callum’s Voice.
“Callum’s Voice was founded in memory of our precious Callum who we tragically lost to suicide in April 2019 aged only 18, originally a C.I.C (community interest company), after lots of hard work and dedication we became a Registered Charity (1187720) in February 2020.
“Our Mission is to support autistic children to achieve and maintain positive mental health so that they can lead happy, healthy lives.
“Our Vision is a world where children and young people with autism and mental health conditions are understood, included, valued and supported.
“In fulfilling our mission and pursuing our vision, we are guided by the following values: We believe that children and young people with Autism and mental health conditions have the right to an active voice; We believe that children and young people with Autism and Mental health conditions should be fully supported and in particular during important transitions into adulthood.”
Richard continues: “We believe that children and young people with Autism and mental health conditions have the right to meaningful social connections; and we believe that every community should take action to include and support children and young people with Autism and mental health conditions.”
A spokesman for Callum’s Voice said of Richard’s fundraising efforts: “Please consider donating to Richards fundraiser, every little helps and we would be most grateful.
“A big thank you to Richard for doing this for us.”
