A new planning application seeks permission to increase the size of a house of multiple occupancy (HMO) in Alfreton town centre.

The application, submitted to Amber Valley Borough Council, is for 15 Hall Street.

The property is currently in use as a four bedroom HMO but the owner wants to create four further bedrooms.

The proposal includes a loft conversion and a single storey rear extension.

A design and access statement attached to the application says: “It would provide much needed affordable housing to the local market, providing high quality accommodation to key workers and to local industry.

“Current demand is significantly greater than supply.”
