A fundraising coffee morning at the Post Mill Centre in South Normanton has raised more than £650 towards the cost of a stairlift for one of the villagers.
The event, which included coffee, cake, and a Tombola, took place on Tuesday (February 13) all in aid of raising funds for a stairlift for villager Sharon.
A spokesman for the Post Mill Centre said: “We are thrilled to announce that our ‘Stairlift for Sharon Coffee Morning’ was a real success.
“With people’s incredible support and generosity, we helped raise £664 towards a new stairlift for Sharon.”
They continued: “A massive shoutout to everyone who joined Sharon and friends at the event: your kind contributions will make a real difference for Sharon on her road to recovery.
“Stay tuned for more exciting events and opportunities to make a difference in our community.”
Wendy Gascoigne has also set up an online fundraiser to further help pay for the stairlift for Sharon.
She says on the ‘A Stairlift for Sharon’ Go Fund Me page: “I have set up this page to raise money for my friend Sharon who needs a stairlift.
“The whole village knows Sharon from working in Spend ‘n’ Save for well over 30 years.
“In July she suffered a massive stroke which left her with life changing disabilities and she also faces heart surgery next year for a faulty heart valve.”
Wendy continued: “Sharon always has a smile for everyone and she deserves our help so please dig deep and let’s get her a stairlift installed to help her have access to her bathroom and bedroom.
“Target has increased to get a good quality stairlift to last.”
