Organisers of a fundraising raffle to support Alfreton’s Deer Shed Café are looking for local businesses to donate a prize.

A1 Comms will host a fundraising raffle for staff during the week of April 10, with all proceeds raised going to support the Deer Shed Café.

The project, organised by Alfreton Park School, will see the site of a former deer shed in Alfreton Park transformed into a café and shop.

Once open, it will provide valuable work experience opportunities to young people with learning difficulties, boost their confidence and learn life-long skills.

However, the school needs to raise £250,000 to be able to build it.

In December, A1 Comms announced that it had partnered with Alfreton Park School to help with fundraising and also to provide work experience opportunities for older students.

Employees are able to take a take of paid Volunteers’ Leave to help raise money to support the project, with company matching all donations raised.

At the time, Victoria Fearnley, HR director at A1 Comms, said: “We’re delighted to have formed a partnership with Alfreton Park School.

“The Deer Shed build stood out to us as a hugely deserving community project. Not only will it create a wonderful space for the local community to enjoy, but it will be vital in helping the students learn about life after education.”
