A group campaigning against a proposal to build a solar farm in Alfreton will host a fundraising quiz night to support its efforts.

Save Alfreton Countryside will host the event at South Wingfield Parish Room on Friday (October 14).

The event, sponsored by Thornbridge Brewery, is set tot start at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £20 for a team of up to four people and includes a free drink.

Save Alfreton Countryside has long been campaigning against a proposal to build a solar farm spanning 75 hectares on land at Hall Farm, off Church Street.

The proposal by Kronos was refused by Amber Valley Borough Council in December last year – however the company has appealed that decision.

As a result, the planning application will now be subject to a public inquiry at the Post Mill Centre in South Normanton.

The public inquiry will start at 10am on Tuesday (October 18).

Members of the public are welcome to attend in person or watch proceedings online.

Save Alfreton Countryside announced on Facebook yesterday (Wednesday, October 12) that it will be represented by a barrister and a planning consultant at the inquiry.

Booking to take part in the quiz is advised. If you’d like to take part, text or call 07790756171.
