A choir in Derbyshire has paid tribute to one of its long-standing members who has passed away recently.
Stan Green was a member of Alfreton Male Voice Choir for many years, including being a past committee member and Vice President of the choral group.
Fellow members of the choir paid tribute to Stan at their recent weekly practice.
A spokesman for the choir said: “Choir mourns loss of long time member Stan Green – baritone and Vice President. Always a really nice man and friend. RIP Stan.”
They added regarding their latest choir practice: “Last night’s choir practice started with a short memorial to our friend Stan Green who passed away this week.
“A very long standing member of the baritone section who sang with us only six weeks ago at a concert; past committee member and current Vice President, whose wife Rita who died last year and will be remembered for running fantastic raffles at the annual concert.
“Practice started with a short memorial and prayer by Choir President, Reverend Derrick Hesketh.
“Then, as Stan would have wanted, practice continued with more work on Coldplays ‘Viva La Vada’ then we had a first go at ‘There Is Nothing Like a Dame’ a popular song by Rodgers & Hammerstein from the 1949 film/show South Pacific.”
