A community pantry’s shelves have been stocked up after the volunteer initiative hosted a food drive.
The donation event recently took place at the Loaves and Fishes Pantry Shop in Alfreton, which is based at Alfreton Christian Centre in Hall Street.
The organisation, which was set up in December 2022, provides discounted food for those struggling during the current cost of living crisis.
The venue’s first ever food drive took place on Saturday, January 27, and has been hailed as a success by the pantry team.
A spokesman for the pantry said: “A massive thank you to everyone who dropped off donations at our food drive.
“Every single one will go towards people in need.
“We are astounded by everyone’s generosity.”
They added: “We had such generosity at the food drive, so much that our shelves are the most stocked they’ve been.”
