A Derbyshire community is pulling together to raise funds for a stairlift for one of its much loved residents.
A fundraising coffee morning is taking place at the Post Mill Centre in South Normanton on Tuesday, February 13, all in aid of raising funds for a stairlift for villager Sharon.
A spokesman foe the Post Mill Centre said: “Join Sharon and friends for coffee, cake, chat with Tombola and lots of laughs on Tuesday, February 13 between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
“Come along to the Post Mill Centre and help to raise funds for Sharon to purchase a much-needed stairlift. We all know Sharon; she gave over 30 years of service to the Spend n Save on High Street in South Normanton.
“In July 2023 she suffered a massive stroke which left her with life changing disabilities, and she also faces heart surgery next year for a faulty heart valve.”
The spokesman continued: “Sharon is a lifelong resident, always has a smile for everyone, and she deserves our help, so please dig deep and let’s get her a stairlift installed to help her have access to her bathroom and bedroom.
“Please see the ‘Go Fund Me’ page for more information and all donations will be kindly received.”
A total of £2,010 has so far been raised through 98 donations via the Go Fund Me page.
Wendy Gascoigne has organised the online fundraiser. She says on the ‘A Stairlift for Sharon’ Go Fund Me page: “I have set up this page to raise money for my friend Sharon who needs a stairlift.
“The whole village knows Sharon from working in Spend n Save for well over 30 years.
“In July she suffered a massive stroke which left her with life changing disabilities and she also faces heart surgery next year for a faulty heart valve.”
Wendy continued: “Sharon always has a smile for everyone and she deserves our help so please dig deep and let’s get her a stairlift installed to help her have access to her bathroom and bedroom.
“Target has increased to get a good quality stairlift to last.”
