A new competition is inviting children and young people across Derbyshire to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NHS.

The NHS will turn 75 on July 5. Joined Up Care Derbyshire is leading the celebrations locally and has chosen the theme of ‘thank you NHS’ for the celebration – dubbed NHS75.

Children across Derbyshire are being asked to create an image representing “appreciation, thanks and support” for the NHS.

Images can be made at home, school or youth groups.

There are three age categories in the competition – three to seven, eight to 11, and 12 to 18 – and the winner of each will be awarded at £75 gift voucher.

Caroline Wade, director of human resources and organisational development at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The NHS marks its 75th birthday on Wednesday, July 5 2023 – labelled NHS75.

“This competition is an opportunity for our community to become involved to create artwork to be displayed across our region’s NHS organisations, where it is hoped it will stay for many years to come.

“We’re gearing up for a number of celebration events across the region and we want to provide as many opportunities as possible for people in our region to mark the special occasion.

“It’s not every year the NHS reaches its 75th year!”

Competition entries can be created using any medium but they must be no larger than A4. It can be a photograph (with full consent for any individuals pictured), drawing, painting or other medium. The artwork must fit a clip frame for displaying.

To enter the competition, email a photograph of the artwork to crhft.communications@nhs.net.
