Derbyshire parents who use ‘real’ nappies could benefit from £25 cashback if they spend £50 or more on reusable products.
The incentive is offered by Derbyshire County Council as part of its Time for a Change campaign, which raises awareness of the use of real nappies.
According to the authority, around 12,000 tonnes of nappy waste is disposed of in Derbyshire every year at a cost of around £1.2m.
The Time for a Change campaign encourages parents to use real nappies, which can be washed and reused, rather than disposable products.
Derbyshire County Council says: “Eight million disposable nappies are thrown away every day in the UK. This is not only bad for the environment but in Derbyshire this costs us around £1.2m a year is disposal costs.
“Using real nappies not only saves us money but it can save you money too.”
