A planning application seeking permission to turn a former Co-op building in Tibshelf into flats has been refused by Bolsover District Council.
The application for prior approval was for 127 to 129 High Street.
The building had been due to go to auction in February, after standing vacant for more than seven years, however, it sold beforehand.
Following the sale of the building, a planning application was submitted seeking permission to transform it into flats.
A notice published by Bolsover District Council this month reveals that the planning permission has been refused.

The decision notice states: “Building operations would be necessary to remove a partially blocked-up shop frontage and reinstate fenestration in order to implement the submitted scheme as proposed.
“This is in external material alteration to the frontage of the building which requires the benefit of full planning permission.
“Furthermore, in the absence of further information, it has not been demonstrated that the parts of the shop front still in glass can be retained in their current frame to serve the proposed residential units without equating to a replacement shop front which would also require the benefit of full planning permission.”
Bolsover District Council has also made decisions regarding other Alfreton area planning applications this month.
An application seeking permission to transform a former garage in Newton into flats for first time buyers has been granted conditionally.
