A parish councillor from Derbyshire was among the 50,000 people who took part in this year’s London Marathon.
South Normanton Parish councillor Olivia Ball ran the 26.2 mile event in aid of the Royal National Institute of Blind People.
A spokesman for South Normanton Parish Council said: “We are thrilled to announce that our very own South Normanton Parish councillor Olivia Ball has conquered the London Marathon.
“In her debut marathon appearance on Sunday, April 21, Olivia blazed through the 26-mile course with determination and spirit, crossing the finish line in an impressive five hours, 58 minutes, and 41 seconds.
“But that’s not all – Olivia’s incredible journey wasn’t just about personal achievement. She ran in support of RNIB – Royal National Institute of Blind People, raising an astounding £2,555 for this vital cause.”
The spokesman added: “Let’s give a round of applause to Olivia for her outstanding dedication, athleticism, and most importantly, her commitment to making a difference in our community and beyond.”
