Cricket clubs in the Alfreton area are gearing up for the new cricket season.
Alfreton Cricket Club has announced the date when their ‘winter nets’ start next month.
A spokesman for the club said: “ACC winter nets start on Sunday, February 11, 1pm-3pm at Tibshelf School. Further details to follow over the coming weeks detailing junior / senior timings.
“All welcome as we begin to prepare for the 2024 season in division 1, 5 north and 9 north.
“If you’re interested in starting to play, returning to the game or after a fresh challenge, drop our Facebook page a message.”

Meanwhile, South Wingfield Cricket Club are also gearing up for the new season.
A spokesman for the club said of the reasons why potential cricket players should join them this new year: “Winter nets began on January 10 at Tibshelf School 8pm-9pm.
“Saturday Cricket for all standards with four men’s adult teams across Divisions 1, 4, 6 and 8; A thriving Sunday development team; A Women’s softball team; Junior sides competing at U11, U13 and u15 alongside Junior Dynamos and All Stars set ups.”
They added: “We have a full time committed Head Coach; Two-laned outdoor netting cage for training; Picturesque ground hosting two games every Saturday with Wingfield Manor in the scenery; and regular summer event nights at the club.
“And finally because it’s a great place to be around, new or old, everyone is welcome to South Wingfield CC.”
