A footpath in a Derbyshire village is currently closed due to a damaged handrail across its route.
Public Footpath No 33 (part) in South Wingfield is currently temporarily closed, as from April 4, and could remain closed up until June 11. It is closed at the pedestrian footbridge over the River Amber.
In a public notice about the temporary closure, a spokesman for Derbyshire County Council said that the closure is in place to: “facilitate public safety due to damaged handrail.”
The spokesman said: “No alternative route is recommended.
“Access will be maintained, whenever possible, on the affected length of footpath. The footpath will re-open as soon as the work is finished. This may be earlier than advertised.
“Derbyshire County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused while work takes place. Anyone needing any further information should ring 01629 533 190.”
