Alfreton’s David Nieper has awarded a cash prize of £750 to a University of Derby fashion student in an annual competition.
Each year, the company works with second year fashion students at the university and asks them to design a collection of four garments – daywear, nightwear, eveningwear and travelwear – for customers.
This year, the students were briefed to take inspiration from fashion designer Mary Quant.
The winner of this year’s competition was international Fashion Design student Ramona Gabriel, who wowed the judges with her floral turtleneck tunic.
“Her use of floral design included bold colours and patterns from Mary Quant in a way which was both sophisticated for our customers but still bold and new,” said the judges.
