A discount store in Alfreton is set to close this week after just six months of trading in the Derbyshire town.
Following the closure of Wilko stores across the country last Autumn – including the store in Alfreton – Poundland then opened up in the Institute Lane premises in October.
However, a spokesman for the discount store has confirmed it will be closing it’s Alfreton store on Saturday (April 6).
A spokesman for the discount store told the Spirit of Alfreton today (Tuesday, April 2): “I’m afraid it’s correct that we’re closing our Alfreton store later this week (April 6).
“Sadly we’ve been unable to secure a long term lease that would enable us to keep trading.”
They continued: “We know that will be disappointing to customers and colleagues alike.
“We will, of course, do all we can, to look for other opportunities for colleagues at the store.”
