Residents across Derbyshire are being urged to make sure that they are registered to vote ahead of the May elections.
Derbyshire County Council has sent out the reminder in the run up to the Combined County Mayoral Authority as well as the Police and Crime Commissioner elections for the area.
A spokesman for the council said: “Derbyshire residents will be heading to the polls on Thursday, May 2, to take part in Combined County Mayoral Authority and Police and Crime Commissioner elections.
“In order to vote in these elections, you must be on the electoral register by 11:59pm on Tuesday, April 16, and we are urging those who have not registered at their current address to do so before the deadline.”
The spokesman continued: “Anyone over 16 can register online – although you must be 18 to vote in elections.
“It only takes five minutes to register and all you will need is your National Insurance number.
“It’s particularly important that you check whether you’re registered if you’ve recently moved home.”
