An Air Cadet group in Derbyshire has been looking back on their 2023 year.
Before breaking up for the festive season, the Alfreton & Ripley Air Cadets held a special evening of awards and more.
A spokesman for the organisation said: “The Last Parade Night of 2023 saw the squadron cadets present Alfreton and Ripley Branch of the Royal British Legion with a cheque for £87.
“Proceeds that had been collected as a result of handcrafted poppy sales prior to Remembrance Day this year.
“Ian and Alison, who recently picked up the coordinator roles for the local branch, said it was wonderful to come and thank the cadets personally and that they looked forward to working with them in future years.
“This year Alfreton RBL raised over £10,000 for the Poppy Appeal and are keen to raise more in 2024.”
The spokesman continued: “The OC was pleased to promote Corporal Moorcroft to Corporal after a successful board.
“A number of Squadron Commander’s Commendations were given. The Squadron Commander’s Commendation is a squadron level award that recognises a set of behaviours and/or achievements.
“Our Hawk Flight also received their Essential First Aid certificates after successfully passing their course earlier in the month.
“A fantastic 2023.”
