A large pile of Christmas presents have been delivered to a hospital which serves families from the Alfreton area and beyond.
Members of Soul Takers Motorcycle Club from Mansfield recently swapped leathers for Santa costumes and other festive characters to ride in convoy to deliver hundreds of presents to Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation for children on the Nightingale children’s ward.
The Motorcycle Club has been delivering presents to the trust for the past two years and are continuing the growing tradition with all the presents having been provided by members of Soul Takers MCC and their family and friends.
The pack of Santas and their support vehicles arrived at the hospital noon on Sunday, December 10.
Al, Chair of Soul Takers, lead the riders. He said: “We wanted to make this an annual occasion and we’re all really excited to see the faces of those greeting us on Sunday morning.
“All the club, including our families and friends, contribute to donating and wrapping the gifts. It’s fantastic to know that we can make a difference.
“The club has existed since 2020 and we’re very keen to support worthy local charities.”

Jenny Reaney, Play Specialist Team Leader at the hospital, said: “It’s so lovely to see the community coming together for Christmas.
“Some patients being cared for here might not be able to get back home for the holiday season, so it’s really heart-warming that they are being thought of.”
Soul Takers were met in Car Park 5 at the hospital to hand the presents over, where they will then be distributed from now until after Christmas for all children in the hospital.
Tracy Barker, Lead Nurse for Family Care at the hospital, said: “We are committed to providing exceptional patient care at Chesterfield and having fun events like this can really improve patients’ time in hospital.
“A massive thanks to Soul Takers MCC for taking the time to do this.”
