A traditional festive movie will be the next screening at a community venue in Derbyshire.
Somercotes Cineroom, which takes place at Somercotes Village Hall in Nottingham Road, will be screening ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ on Saturday, December 16.
The volunteer led community cinema is a non-profit organisation which offers around one screening a month, from Autumn until Spring.
A spokesman for the Cineroom said: “Our goal is to bring high quality cinema to our local community of Alfreton. We feel that cinema is culturally important, it encourages learning and socialising (quietly!) and can be enjoyed by all ages.”
Somercotes Cineroom was formed by Jemma and Kay as a non-profit community cinema in October 2019.
The spokesman continued: “We keep our ticket and refreshments prices low as we believe our community cinema should be easily accessible to everyone. Any money made goes directly back into Somercotes Cineroom and future screenings.”
Doors will open for ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ on Saturday, December 16, at 4.30pm and the screening will start at 5pm.
The Cineroom spokesman said: “Join us for a heartwarming Christmas tradition as we screen ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.’
“Home for the Christmas break? Craving a cosy night out? This classic film is the perfect way to embrace the spirit of the season by doing something festive in your local area.
“Bring your family and friends for a festive evening filled with warmth, joy, and the magic of George Bailey’s timeless story.
“Don’t miss out on this cinematic celebration.”
They added: “Directed by Frank Capra, this classic unfolds the story of George Bailey, a selfless man facing financial struggles on Christmas Eve.
“Guided by an angel named Clarence, George explores a world where he never existed, discovering the profound impact of his life on the community.”
