Alfreton’s final Platinum Jubilee events due to take place today (Sunday, June 5) have been postponed due to bad weather.
A Royal Teddy Bears Picnic had been due to take place in Alfreton Park between 11am and 5pm, while a performance by Death of the High Street had been scheduled to take place at Alfreton Cricket Club from 7pm.
Alfreton Town Council announced that the events would be postponed earlier today.
In a statement on Facebook, the council said: “After a wonderful few days celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee, it is with great sadness that we are having to postpone our two events today.
“We have assessed the park this morning, but due to adverse weather conditions it would be unsafe for us to go ahead with today’s events.
“The Teddy Bears Picnic will hopefully go ahead as planned (weather permitting) on Father’s Day, June 19. We will announce a further date for Death of the High Street’s gig.”
