Free parking is on offer for visitors using Amber Valley Borough Council (AVBC) car parks in the run up to Christmas.
The initiative, which started today (Monday, December 11), is aimed at encouraging festive shoppers to use town centre shops and businesses across the borough.
A spokesman for the council said: “Residents and visitors to Amber Valley can take advantage of our popular annual free Christmas parking initiative, which runs for two weeks in all of the borough council’s pay and display car parks.
“Free parking is valid from 1pm each day from December 11 and ends at midnight on December 26.”
They continued: “Other rules regarding parking in disabled parking bays and maximum stays will still apply.
“The scheme is aimed at encouraging residents and visitors to visit the town centres and shop in the borough to support traders and the local economy.
The AVBC controlled car parks in Alfreton are at: Alfreton Leisure Centre, Park Street, Rodgers Lane East, Rodgers Lane West, and Severn Square.
The council also controls, within the DE55 area, the High Street car park in Riddings, and The Green car park in Swanwick.
