Students from the David Nieper Academy in Alfreton have been getting on track in learning all about working in the railway industry.
The trip saw students from the Alfreton school join others from other schools in taking part in the railway focused day at Swanwick.
Year 11 student Jeff Harris said of the trip: “My school took a trip to Swanwick, and we rode on a train from Butterley to Swanwick.
“When we arrived, we did lots of different activities, including science-themed ones.
“Our group was the first to complete one of the activities, which the other schools didn’t finish, and we will be getting certificates for this.
“We also had some speeches from people who work for National Rail and QTS. They told us about the different jobs available in the railway industry.”
Jeff continued: “We got to see different machines and tools used in the railway industry, like drones, computer software for surveying, and machinery for the tracks.
“We learned about different careers like electricians, machine operators, project managers, and site engineers. It was a really fun trip for us.”
