Schools and businesses across North Derbyshire are being encouraged to ‘go pink’ this October in support of Ashgate Hospice.

The hospice, which has a shop on Alfreton High Street, will host its first Go Pink for Ashgate week between October 10 and 16.

Throughout the week, schools, businesses and other local organisations will be encouraged to host pink themed events to raise money for the hospice.

Rachel Broughton, community fundraiser at Ashgate Hospice, explained: “Our Go Pink for Ashgate week is finally here and we’re inviting people, schools and organisations across North Derbyshire to join us.

“Can you wear something pink or hold a pink themed event and show your support in return for a donation to the hospice? Why not dress as a pink flamingo or wear pink bunny ears to work – do whatever you wish!

“Please reach out to us if you’d be interested in being involved; your support will fund the £8m needed to provide our care each year.”

Ashgate Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care to people aged 18 and over. The support the hospice offers is free of charge and it relies on donations from supporters in local communities.
