Members of the South Normanton Dramatic Society are currently in rehearsals for their Sleeping Beauty The Pantomime production which they will be presenting at the Post Mill Centre in January.
Show dates are: Thursday, January 4, at 7.30pm; Friday, January 5 at 7.30pm; and Saturday, January 6 at 3pm.
A spokesman for the society said: “Hello boys and girls, mums and dads, roll up, roll up and get tickets to the most awaited show of the year.
“Come and support your community group, the children of the community and have some fun along the way.”
South Normanton Dramatics Society formed with one objective, to bring high quality live entertainment at affordable prices for the people of the South Normanton.
Society member Brian Bakewell further explained: “We have actors and backstage folk ranging from eight to 80, and we have given many people skills and confidence they gain on the stage which they can take into their everyday life.
“Over the years we have produced dramatic plays, a review show, and several murder mystery evenings, but we are best known for our yearly panto performances.”
Brian continued: “We sing, we dance, we tell jokes and do pratfalls, and we do it all for very low prices because we wouldn’t want anyone who’s budget is tight to think they can’t afford to go to the theatre.
“Our previous shows have included Dick Whittington, Cinderella, Little Red Riding hood and the Three Little Pigs, and Cinderella, and the wonderful Robin Hood which was also written by the cast.”
Brian added: “Our current show is Sleeping Beauty, so come along and cheer on the dashing Prince, laugh at the daft dame and the bumbling Jester, and boo the evil fairy Nightshade. It’s Jester-riffic!”
