As the Winter months continue, drivers across Derbyshire are being reminded that there are live traffic cameras in eight locations so that they can see what the conditions are like before setting off on their journeys.
Derbyshire County Council has a number of live cameras across the county which show drivers what the traffic and weather is like in those areas at that time – including one covering the A61 in Alfreton.

The above map pinpoints where the live traffic cameras are in place.

A spokesman for the council said: “Did you know that you can view live pictures from traffic cameras that we have across the county?
“We have cameras at eight places in Derbyshire, or just outside, and the pictures on our website show the condition of each road. Each picture is updated at least every 20 minutes, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
“You might find them useful when bad weather hits and you are making decisions about whether to set out on a journey or not.”
They added: “Due to mobile network conditions, the remote location of some cameras means that from time to time the pictures can become out of date.”
