A young swimmer in Derbyshire is gearing up to take on a Swimathon all in aid of charity.
Eleven-year-old Olivia Edmunds, who swims at Alfreton Leisure Centre, will be swimming 1.5 kilometres next month in a bid to raise lots of cash for Cancer Research UK.
A spokesman at the leisure centre said: “On Sunday, April 28, Olivia will be completing her first Swimathon event, swimming 1.5k to raise money for Cancer Research.
“Olivia chose to do this in support of a family member who is going through cancer at the moment and wanted to do something to help. What a superstar!”

They continued: “Olivia started swimming with us when she was just three years old and is very proud to have achieved all her awards from Ducklings right through to Stage 10.
“Olivia now swims with the local Rascals Swimming Club.”
Olivia’s family have set up a Justgiving fundraising page for folk to donate to her charity efforts.
On the page, a relative said: “Olivia is doing a Swimathon in April 2024 to raise money for cancer research. Please help her to raise money.
“She is swimming 1.5k which is 60 lengths. Go Olivia Go.”
