Curzon Ashton 2-1 Alfreton Town on Tuesday, February 6

Reds three matches without a win following Curzon midweek defeat
Alfreton Town had a tough night at Curzon Ashton on Tuesday, losing by the odd goal in three despite the hosts being reduced to ten men after just 20 minutes.
The Reds had started brightly with Jordan Thewlis and Adam Lund both going close, but Curzon won their first corner in the tenth minute with George Willis uncharacteristically dropping the delivery for Alex Kenyon to stab home the loose ball.
Alfreton though were level by the 20th minute in dramatic circumstances after Thewlis had won a corner with a deflected drive.
Thewlis took the flag-kick himself, but defender Marcus Poscha bizarrely handled Lund’s towering header on the line, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot and brandish a red card for Poscha, who had also been dismissed in the previous game on Saturday at home to Buxton.
And the drama didn’t end there as Thewlis struck the penalty against the upright, but Josh Clackstone reacted quickest to rifle the ball home from 16 yards.
A couple of corners from Billy Fewster caused problems for the home side, Lund only just off target with another header and latterly a defender almost scoring an own goal in the confusion.
Adam Barton fired wide for the Nash when well placed on 36, then Willis was penalised for handling outside his area, but mercifully only received a caution – Jordan Richards wasted the free-kick.
Curzon took a 2-1 lead in the third minute of stoppage time however, with Barton steering home a Richards cross after good approach work by James Spencer.
After the break the Reds battled to push forward, creating chances that were blocked more often than not, although keeper Cameron Mason needed to stretch to turn aside a stinging Thewlis drive on 56 minutes.
Curzon continued to defend doggedly, Lund only able to trouble the side-netting after playing a neat one-two with Lewis Salmon before George Cantrill’s effort from an 86th minute corner warranted a goal-line clearance by Will Hayhurst.
Alfreton’s catalogue of chances ended with Kennedy Digie’s header going just wide in added time.
