A town mayor in Derbyshire has officially opened a new ‘Peace Pod’ at a local charity.
Callum’s Voice, which is situated within Alfreton House, hosts regular crafts sessions for young people to enjoy.
Founded in memory of Callum who was tragically lost to suicide at just at 18 in April 2019, Callum’s Voice was originally a Community Interest Company (CIC) and then became a fully registered charity in February 2020.
Alfreton Town Mayor, councillor Hannah Jowett-Frost, recently popped into the charity to carry out the official opening of the initiative’s ‘Peace Pod.’
A spokesman for the charity said on Monday (April 15): “After a busy and emotional few weeks, we are catching up on news and announcements.
“Today we’d like to share with you our newly named ‘Peace Pod’ which was officially opened by Mayor Hannah Jowett-Frost on Saturday, April 6.
“Peace Pod’ was suggested by Rose and Robin as part of our competition and we were delighted to welcome them to pick up their prize and spend some time in the Peace Pod on Friday.”
The spokesman continued: “A big thank you to all who suggested names and/or joined us at the event. Your support means the world to us, especially at difficult times.”
