Pupils at Alfreton Park School often have a classmate of the furry four-legged kind.
Yes, that’s correct – Rooney is the school dog for the Wingfield Road site establishment.
Rooney, who belongs to headteacher Josie O’Donnell, is often seen in the classrooms of the school as well as being taken for walks by pupils.
These pictures of Rooney’s visits have been recently posted on the school’s Facebook page.
A spokesman at Alfreton Park School said in a Facebook post: “Paddy and Ashleigh have worked hard to take care of Rooney today, he’s ready for a lie down now! Thank you both.”
And then in another post: “Rupert joined Paddy to walk Rooney today. They both took great care making sure he waited at crossings and listened to their instructions. Well done boys.”
