A member of a Derbyshire leisure centre has been recognised for his journey in getting fitter.
Staff at Alfreton Leisure Centre, which is situated in Church Street, have given a shout out to Colin, one of its members who has been using the site’s facilities for the past 12 months.

A spokesman at the leisure centre said: “Shout out to Colin who has reached his first milestone, marking one year since beginning his fitness journey.
“Colin came to us in April 2023 through the ‘Live Life Better’ 12 week exercise referral programme and wants to share his story so far.”
Colin said: “I began the Live Life Better programme for the purpose of losing weight, I felt really unfit and my mobility was poor.
“I was quite nervous to start with as I was very conscious about my size and lack of ability to do much in terms of exercise for long periods. To be honest, that did soon change.”
Colin continued: “I started off with 20 minutes cardio which I found daunting at first, but over time I regained a lot of confidence.
“I tried a few exercise classes, including Pilates and Aqua Fit.
“My advisor Karen, was very supportive and gave me advice on different types of exercises to try.
“I was doing so well, that I became a full member of Alfreton Leisure Centre and Saturday, April 6, marked my first year since I began my fitness journey.
“In that time my mobility has improved, I’ve lost 3 stone and gained so much confidence.”
Colin added: “I still enjoy attending the gym three to four times per week and I’m determined to become the best version of me that I can.”
The leisure centre spokesman added: “Massive congratulations Colin, keep up the excellent work.”
