More than £4,000 has been raised for charity at a gladiator style event in Derbyshire.
The fundraising Amber Valley Gladiators show, which took place at the Genesis Centre on April 27, was organised by Dan Payandeh from Fit3:16 Alfreton.
The grand total raised at the event is £4,200 which is set to be split between three charities.
Dan said of the event: “What an unreal night for Amber Valley Gladiators! A big Thank You to all who supported us though this, from our sponsors, the crowd, runners, DJ, lights, front of house and all in the people working in the background.”
Dan said of the total raised from the event: “Wow, what a grand total raised to be split between our three great charities: Aera Support Community Group; Retina UK; and Crohn’s & Colitis UK.
“Just a big Thank You to all that was part of this and hopefully will be doing one later in the year towards Christmas.”
A spokesman for the Genesis Entertainment Centre said of the event: “Well done to everyone who helped make this event a huge success.”
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Aera Support Community Group – one of the charities set to benefit from the fundraiser – said: “Well done and a big Thank You to everyone who was part of making this Gladiator event a success.
“It was absolutely amazing. You should all be proud of yourselves.
“Thank you for your support and raising money for Aera Support Community Group and the other charities.”
They added: “If you are not already aware, our community group is based at the Genesis Centre so if you’re ever around in the day time please pop in to say hello or stop by for a coffee.”
Dan PT added that the Amber Valley Gladiators will be going ‘on tour’ this Summer at a number of community events across the area.
He said: “We will be at two events during the summer with have a go at the Amber Valley Gladiators Experience, where you can have a go at the games we had on the night and take on our team of gladiators and for the young ones to have a go too.
“These events are Saturday, June 15, at Sleetmoor Utd Fun Day, and on Saturday, July 6, at the Carnfield Gala.”
