A Derbyshire swimming teacher has been nominated for a series of national awards this year.
Liz Harby, who lives in Swanwick, was nominated for STA (Safety Training Awards) STAr Water Safety Educator of the Year in the national awards hosted by the STA.
Liz said: “It was a tough competition and even though I did not win, to receive notification that my work has been recognised nationally and my passion on Water Safety Education is second to none.”
Liz was also nominated for Swim England – Swimming Teacher of the Year 2023, and the same day Liz’s company ‘Training Aquatic Courses’ was shortlisted for UK Best in Business (regional) Derbyshire Awards.
Liz said: “This year has been truly incredible for me and next year I hope to drive my passion to a whole new level as one life lost in the water is too many.
“I believe that, through positive thinking and education, lives will be saved around water.”
Liz works with local communities and schools on water safety as well as activities within a local swimming club swimming.
She has links with the Royal Lifesaving Society and the Swimming Teachers Association/ Swim England and is an active member for education in her tutoring role to train swimming teachers and lifeguards.
