New date for town’s parish meeting

A new date has been set for a Derbyshire town’s 2024 Parish Meeting.
Alfreton Town Council had set to host the Parish Meeting for this year on Tuesday, May 21. However, the council has announced that it is has been moved to now take place on Thursday, May 23.
A spokesman for the council said: “Please note, the Parish Meeting will now be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 6.30pm in Room 1, Alfreton House – not Tuesday, May 21, as previously advertised.”
Current Alfreton Town Mayor, Hannah Jowett-Frost, in a notice about the meeting, said: “You are invited to attend and participate in the Parish Meeting of Alfreton Town Council to be held on Thursday 23rd May 2024 at Room 1, Alfreton House, High Street, Alfreton starting at 6-30 pm
The ‘Order of Business’ for the meeting will be: 1) To hear an address from councillor Hannah Jowett-Frost, Town Mayor; 2) To receive the town mayor’s annual report; 3) To read and consider the minutes of the annual parish meeting 2023; 4) To receive a report on the finances of Alfreton Town Council; 5) To hear items from members of the public.
The council’s Annual Meeting, which will include the election of a new mayor for the town, is still set to take place on Tuesday, May 21, at 7pm.
