A new provider is preparing to reopen an Alfreton nursery that closed before Christmas.

Ashbourne Day Nurseries has taken over Magnolia Day Nursery on Grange Street and plans to open later this month.

The nursery was previously owned by Harp Nurseries, which acquired the site when the previous owners, Welcome Nurseries, went into administration last summer.

Ashbourne Day Nurseries owns a number of sites across the country – all of which it says are rated either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

The new nursery will cater for children aged between three months old and five years, and will be open Monday to Friday from 7.30am until 6pm.

Eligible parents will be able to access funded places for two year olds and the nursery will also offer 15 hours of free childcare a week to all three and four year olds, as per the government offer.

Working parents of three and four year olds will also be able to access 30 hours of free childcare a week at the nursery.

Mark Lowe, manager of the nursery, said: “We are a child-centred nursery, where provision and learning stem from our children’s interest. We learn through play, with the want to create curiosity and wonder in children.

“Respect and inclusiveness is at the heart of what we do, with the desire to support our children in feeling proud of who they are, along with an eagerness for life-long learning.

“We have a team of highly trained staff, with the sound understanding of how to support and challenge children’s learning and development. We want to be working with the local community and being a part of the hustle and bustle of Alfreton.

“We strive to support families with advice, guidance on development, parenting and anything else they may need.”

The new nursery is due to open on Monday, March 13.
